After being informed and documented about the trauma a wild animal such as a chimpanzee, suffers when used in a movie or TV show, the Tv channel Antena3/Neox and the producers Hill Valley and Phileas Productions are going ahead with their plans and are actually shooting the program Involución, where a misstreated chimp is being used. Does it seem ethical to you? Do you think it’s fair?
¿WHAT CAN YOU DO?
You can do several things:
1:
ENTER IN THEIR FACEBOOK PAGES and write on their walls commenting how bad you think it is that they use a poor chimpanzee. Respond to all the posts they have. Write on their walls, in their comments, in the comments of others. Everywhere!
For this option, follow these steps:
Download this image (click on the image with the right hand button on the mouse and select save as) and then change the photo of your facebook profile to this.
Enter in the Facebook page of Antena3 y Neox y click I like it (if there is) so that you can gain access to its walls.
- ¿Do you think that it is an evolved decision ?
- ¿Does it seem unethical?
- ¿Does it seem normal to want to earn money from the suffering of an animal?
- ¿Does it seem normal that despite being informed and with the documented trauma experienced by a “tamed” chimp, continue with the filming?
2:
WRITE ON TWITTER: send dozens of twits to @Flipytwit, @Antena3com y @a3Neox telling them that you DO NOT WANT a chimpanzee in a competition, that you feel it is cruel, that they have disappointed you, whatever you feel.
¿Did you know that the original idea for this programme to use a chimpanzee was from the well known Flipy from El Hormiguero? ¿Is this what you expected from him? His production company, Hill Valley, is behind the project. As you see from this, he is not the person he appears to be, that while he makes money, he does not care if an animal suffers.
Along with him also presenting the programme will be Berta Collado and Ignatius Farray.
3:
YOU CAN CALL THEM DIRECTLY

- - Phileas Production Producer: 91 630 57 86
- - Hill Valley Producer: 91 521 02 49
Express your dissatisfaction with the decision and that YOU DO NOT want them to use a wild animal such as a chimpanzee.

The arguments set out to Antena 3 and the producers in the meeting
1.- For the ethical question. This industry takes the young from their mother a few months after birth (In nature they spend at least the first 8 years together, and in groups), in doing this they separate them for life. The youngster is isolated, trained and forced to carry out unnatural behaviours of its species, often degrading, for the amusement of the public. When they grow and are no longer manageable nor profitable, they spend the rest of their lives locked up (up to 50 years) this brings about serious psychological and physical problems, much of the time making them incapable of natural interaction with their own species.
2.- For the problem of animal welfare. As much for the living conditions and captivity of these animals, and for the type of training and performance required, which does not provide the satisfaction of their physical, social or sexual in the name of profit.
A lucky few of the fortunate ones will arrive at the few rescue centres that exist, there they must take care of them for life, struggling everyday to find the financial means to solve the problem caused by those responsible.
3.- As an anti-education message. At a time when society is beginning to become aware of the need to protect the biodiversity, the commercial use of endangered species such as chimpanzees, for the mere entertainment of humans, encourages the ‘use as pets’ of these animals and contradicts the values of respect and conservation of nature that governments, academia, animal associations, environmental organisations and educational institutions promote.
4.- As a matter of safety. Chimpanzees are very strong animals. The abuse and deprivation they are subjected to in their training, and the conflict between their instincts and frustration of those in captivity, making them potentially very dangerous. There are numerous cases of very serious attacks from chimpanzees to people.
Stopping this is in your hands. ¿Are you going to stand by and do nothing?
¡Action! Follow all the steps we suggest, forward this article, tell all your friends, spread the word. Write in the walls of Antera3 y Neox, send as many twits as you want to Flipy saying how bad this idea is, that you are disappointed, that it is not ethical and that you are against it.
¡THERE IS NO TIME TO LOSE!
